The tendency of Chinese manufacturers of bicycle lights and flashlights to claim an artificially high light output. This has necessitated the creation of a new measurement unit, the chilumen or "Chinese Lumen," which has a variable conversion factor to actual lumens.
"I just bought a 10,000 lumen flashlight for $7.99 including shipping from Shenzhen China."
"You're a victim of lumenflation. That flashlight is 10,000 chilumens, not 10,000 lumens."
